Program Spotlight

The Labor and Human Resources major and minor focus on subjects ranging from globalization and talent management to worker rights and social justice. It encompasses a variety of growing career areas, all of which address the complex social, cultural, and professional issues you are likely to encounter in modern workplaces. The department also offers two more minors.

Program Spotlight

The IUG program allows students to obtain both a bachelor of science degree in Labor and Human Resources and a master of science degree in Human Resources and Employment Relations after five years of study rather than six.

Dan, a fourth-year student majoring in Labor and Human Resources and Political Science, interned with Southwest Airlines this summer. During his internship, he worked on a team that identified high-performing individuals within the company and provided them with resources to help them succeed in the next level of leadership. Dan received enrichment funding through the Liberal Arts Career Enrichment Network to help cover internship and relocation expenses and plans to return to Southwest in December to fulfill a full-time position.

Nick, a fourth-year student majoring in Labor and Human Resources, Chinese, and Asian Studies, worked as a human resources analyst intern this summer at the Pacific Investment Management Company LLC in Austin, Texas, aiding in building prospect pools for open executive-level positions within the company. Nick received enrichment funding through the Liberal Arts Career Enrichment Network to help cover internship and relocation expenses.

Nicholas, a 2022 Labor and Human Resources and Psychology alumnus, spent last summer working as a research assistant at the University of Edinburgh. He was able to combine his backgrounds in labor and human resources and psychology to complete workplace behavioral research in Scotland. The Paterno Fellow learned about the opportunity through the undergraduate newswire and received enrichment funding from the Liberal Arts Career Enrichment Network.
