For more information on the Department of Economics study abroad program, please contact:

Wayne Geerling, Senior Lecturer
Department of Economics | 306 Kern Building, University Park, PA 16802

Education Abroad Programs Recommended by the Department:

There are no specific programs the Economics department recommends for its majors.  Economics majors are encouraged to visit the Global Programs website to research programs and to find the best fit for them.  Economics majors should consider meeting with an Education Abroad adviser in Boucke Building as they research the available programs.

Academic Notes:

Students who plan on studying abroad and transferring courses back to PSU for Economics credits are required to set up a meeting with Wayne Geerling. This meeting needs to occur before the study abroad trip. Wayne is the liaison for study abroad in the Economics Department. Wayne will evaluate the study abroad courses chosen by the student and make decisions for the level of credit that will transfer back to PSU.

The Economics Department has the final say in how Economics courses are transferred back for Economics credit. We may not agree with course evaluations provided by Smeal College of Business or the Office of Global Programs. It is mandatory to meet with Dr. Geerling before your semester abroad.

A maximum of 6 ECON credits can be transferred to PSU from study abroad. Of these 6 credits, a maximum of 3 credits can be used at the 400 level.

It is also recommended to meet with an Economics Department adviser before your journey abroad.
