Experience Time: Fall 2022

Give us a brief summary of your experience?

This past fall, I continued my internship at the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) that I had begun in the Summer of 2022. I worked with the communications and technology departments to execute our social media initiatives and promote conservative principles ahead of the midterm elections.

How did this experience impact you academically?

This internship has given me the opportunity to gain real-world experience working in politics, an opportunity that isn't available through traditional political science coursework. I was able to learn more about the behind-the-scenes work that goes into political advocacy and communications.

"This internship has given me the opportunity to gain real-world experience working in politics, an opportunity that isn't available through traditional political science coursework."

How will this experience impact your career goals?

This opportunity has given me many connections to expand my network when I graduate from Penn State. I have had the opportunity to work with some of the most influential conservative leaders and thinkers throughout my time working at CPAC.

How has the College of the Liberal Arts helped you to find and/or succeed in this experience (e.g., adviser, faculty, staff, enrichment funds, etc.)?

Although I found this internship through my involvement with the Penn State College Republicans, the College of Liberal Arts was able to make this internship a reality through the opportunity to receive enrichment funding for my internship.
