Give us a brief summary of your experience?

This past summer, I completed an internship as a Store Manager at the Kohl’s in Kingstowne, Virginia. In this role, I was tasked with becoming part of the store’s executive team, overseeing all facets of the management of the store, as well as helping with the renovation the store is currently undergoing to put in a Sephora, as a result of Kohl’s new partnership with the beauty chain.

How did this experience impact you academically?

This internship has influenced my undergraduate Liberal Arts education by granting me a unique experience in an industry very different from that which I am studying, which will consequently enhance my perspective both inside and outside of the classroom.

"[This experience granted] me a unique experience in an industry very different from that which I am studying, which will consequently enhance my perspective both inside and outside of the classroom."

How will this experience impact your career goals?

I still intend to work for a year or two after graduation before attending law school. Although I have received a full-time offer from Kohl’s, I hope to spend this intermediary period working either in consulting, teaching, or doing missionary work for the Catholic Church.

How has the College of the Liberal Arts helped you to find and/or succeed in this experience (e.g., adviser, faculty, staff, enrichment funds, etc.)?

The enrichment funds provided by the Chapel Executive Internship program provided great assistance towards the successful completion of my internship.

How has the Paterno Fellows Program had an impact on this experience?

The Paterno Fellows Program affected this experience by giving me the skill to multitask in a variety of ways, a vital skill in store management.
