Give us a brief summary of your experience?

In the fall of my freshman year I applied to be matched with an alumni mentor. I filled out a survey about myself and my goals and a couple months later I was matched with an attorney in Pittsburgh. We have called on the phone multiple times and generally email back and forth when I have questions about the criminal justice field. It has been a really great experience and excellent practice in networking!

"My mentor has been a terrific help with guiding my choices of coursework and offers great encouragement."

How did this experience impact you academically?

My mentor has been a terrific help with guiding my choices of coursework and offers great encouragement.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

My mentor has connected me with professionals in the legal field from detectives to the Attorney General of Pennsylvania. She even went above and beyond and helped me obtain a virtual internship with the Office of the Attorney General (PA). I know I can depend on her for career guidance or networking.

How has the College of the Liberal Arts helped you to find and/or succeed in this experience (e.g., adviser, faculty, staff, enrichment funds, etc.)?

The College of Liberal Arts Career Enrichment Network matched me with my mentor and many other alumni who have valuable experiences to my goals!
