Give us a brief summary of your experience?

I worked under the guidance of an immigration lawyer to fill out paperwork, interview clients, and compile documents in order to help refugees attain citizenship.

How did this experience impact you academically?

I learned much more about the legal system in this country which is extremely beneficial to me because I plan on attending law school.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

Two career areas I am considering are government and immigration law. Having experience working with refugees will help me craft policies based on a first hand understanding of the US immigration system if I am involved in government in the future. Additionally, I am working under the direct supervision of a lawyer who is practicing the type of career I would want if I were to be involved in immigration law.

How has the College of the Liberal Arts helped you to find and/or succeed in this experience (e.g., adviser, faculty, staff, enrichment funds, etc.)?

I have been given a scholarship to help cover the cost of the Penn State course that I am paying for in order to get credit for this internship.
