Give us a brief summary of your experience?

I am learning how to run a small business. My internship consists of merchandising, buying, branding, and owning a business all-in-one. I am getting a one-on-one experience with this internship because Nicole does not employ anyone else other than herself. I am gaining knowledge and understanding of professional skills, good communication techniques, and branding ideas.

How did this experience impact you academically?

This experience changed my academic career. Being a Letters, Arts, and Sciences major, where I created my own major, this experience has been crucial. In order to be successful in the major that I created, I needed to show what exactly I want to do with it after I receive my degree. This internship has allowed me to gain knowledge and professional skills that I will hold onto for the rest of my life.

...this experience has opened my eyes to the endless possibilities and opportunities that there are in the fashion industry

How will this experience impact your career goals?

This internship has allowed me to gain knowledge about owning a business. While I may not have my own business in the future, the skills and knowledge I have acquired will be something I take with me into any business profession. I believe this experience has opened my eyes to the endless possibilities and opportunities that there are in the fashion industry and it is only expanding.

How has the College of the Liberal Arts helped you to find and/or succeed in this experience (e.g., adviser, faculty, staff, enrichment funds, etc.)?

The advisors in the College of Liberal Arts helped me to succeed during this experience. During these unusual times, my advisors were willingly and open to answer my questions and help me succeed in this major. Their emails kept me informed and up-to-date and let me know what was going on in the college as well.
