What was the best part of your experience?

The best part of my experience was getting to learn from one of the best minor league baseball organizations in the country. I'm learning how to become a great salesman while learning the ins and outs of what goes on behind the scenes for a baseball club. I'm gaining great experience interacting with people on the phone and in person and have been adjusting on the fly to all different kinds of tasks and goals. Even when I wake up on a Monday morning and want to go back to bed, I think to myself that I get to go to work at a baseball stadium instead of just a 9-5 office job, so that is a something that makes going into work a little easier.

How did this experience impact you academically?

This impacts me academically because it allows me to finish my undergraduate studies next fall and allows me to gain credit for all of the hours and time I'm putting into this internship this spring and summer. The experience I'm gaining and things I am learning from my time with the IronPigs are going to pay huge dividends in my post graduation life. I am enjoying writing these discussion posts and essays for my LA 495 internship class because it allows me to write out all of my experiences, and it will give me something to look back on 5 or 10 years from now and see where I started and how much progress I have made.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

I started to discuss this in the prior question, but this internship helps my career immensely. All of the full timers in the industry say their careers were kickstarted by completing a ticket sales internship. Basically it is an unwritten requirement that people need to go through this internship to break into the industry. Last summer I completed one with the State College Spikes, so getting to add a second internship -- this time with a much larger organization -- should really help me out with getting a job after graduation. The IronPigs name looks great on a resume, so this season should really put me in good shape for getting a job after college!
