What was the best part of your experience?
The best part of my internship was the wide variety of tasks that I got to experience. I touched every facet of the Human Resources department. For instance, I got to assist with activities in recruiting, benefits, compliance, and so much more. I loved experiencing the different areas and seeing which I preferred over others. Additionally, working in a dog-friendly company created an amazing culture and environment. Seeing various employee’s pets and how they brought the company closer together was an amazing part of my experience.
This internship helped me experience different situations and various interactions with individuals that cannot be taught
How did this experience impact you academically?
There are certain things in the Human Resource industry that are impossible to teach in a classroom, specifically because of the ‘human’ variable in this field. This internship helped me experience different situations and various interactions with individuals that cannot be taught. I am able to bring these experiences back with me into the classroom and use them to benefit my studies. I also get to develop a deeper understanding by connecting my personal experience with the classroom material.
How will this experience impact your career goals?
Through this experience, I have learned which area of Human Resources I would like to specialize in. I never thought I would have enjoyed becoming a HRIS Analyst before coming to Pocket Nurse. This impacts my career goals by helping me narrow the broad and complex Human Resources industry into more specialized departments that I now know I enjoy working in.
