What was the best part of your experience?

The best part of my internship has been assisting with Pop Up Libraries. We bring a variety of books from the library to various spots on campus, like Pollock Commons or the HUB. There, students can check out any of the materials we bring. I was able to assist with one for LGBT History month which was a lot of fun. I got to search our catalog, choose books, and hunt through the library to find them. Getting to work that closely with our collections and bring pieces of them to students around campus is really exciting!

Through this internship, I've become a more focused and independent worker.

How did this experience impact you academically?

This internship has impacted me academically in multiple ways. The freedom I have in my internship has affected the way I work. At first, the internship felt overwhelming, and I felt that I was always scatterbrained. Through this internship, I've become a more focused and independent worker. I'm able to apply those new skills to my work in academics and study and learn more diligently.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

I aspire to become a librarian, and this internship has given me insight into academic librarianship in a variety of ways. I also believe that outreach skills are vital in all fields of work. Being able to collaborate with people and organizations with whom you are not familiar or to which you do not belong - whether it be personally or professionally - is vital to being a well-rounded person and employee. Therefore, I believe this experience has benefited me across the board.
