Scott N. Paul, ’89 Foreign Service and International Politics, is President of the Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM), a non-profit, non-partisan partnership established in 2007 to strengthen American manufacturing and jobs through effective public policies. A summer internship on Capitol Hill during his time at Penn State helped launch Scott’s career in policy, politics and advocacy. He served on the staff of Members of Congress from Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan, before departing Capitol Hill in 2001.

Scott earned a master’s degree with honors in Security Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in 2004. He is a co-author of the 2013 book ReMaking America and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Skills Coalition. Raised in the small town of Rensselaer, Indiana, he currently resides in Silver Spring, Maryland, with his spouse Ilisa Halpern Paul and twin boys.

Scott serves on the Board of Visitors for the Political Science Department and has been an active mentor to students throughout the college. He and Ilisa established a scholarship to support public policy internships. AAM has also provided internship opportunities for Liberal Arts students.
