Service to Society Award

David L. Nevins, ’69 Economics, is founder, president, and co-director of Bridge Alliance, a coalition of more than 90 organizations working to fix our country’s politics, improve governance, engage our citizens, and cross today’s political gulf. He is also founder and president of State College-based Nevins Real Estate Management.

David earned an MBA in finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1971 and shortly thereafter returned to State College to begin his career in business. His previous business ventures include Julian Inc. and Café 210 West in State College.

At Penn State, David established and continues to work with The Nevins Democracy Leaders Program, a program that teaches critical thinking, deliberation, and dialogue. He is a member of the Aspen Institute Society of Fellows and on the board of the National Association of Nonpartisan Reformers.

Extraordinarily generous to his alma mater, David established the Nevins Democracy Leaders Fund and supports the Liberal Arts Future Fund. Additionally, he established Nevins Diversity Scholarship Fund with the goal of promoting the diversity of the Smeal College of Business student body.

David is married to R. Catherine Moyal, a real estate agent. The couple resides in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and State College.
