What enrichment activities did you participate in as a student?

I studied abroad in Athens, Greece, with Professor Munn and it was one of the best experiences of my life. We were completely immersed in the Greek language and culture and studied several different eras of ancient Greek history all at once. For one class, our professors divided us up into teams of ancient Greek city states and had us compete in a simulation-style game to advance our goals as a team, it was awesome!

What was your first job after graduating from Penn State?

My first job was as a performance management analyst for Riot Games, specializing in incentive design, data analytics and insights, and organizational design.

What was your favorite class?

My favorite class was Osteology with Dr. Milner because it was so interesting and so challenging.

How did your liberal arts education and skills prepare you for life after graduation?

Critical thinking was far more important than any specific archaeological technique or anything else. The ability to step back and objectively analyze a situation and identify all of the possible factors going into its creation is the foundation of good research.

What networking advice would you share with current students?

Do informational interviews—I can’t overemphasize how important it is to find out about the field you might want to work in before committing to it!

What role have mentors played in your career progression?

Mentors have been invaluable for me as I try to learn more soft skills like stakeholder management. Find veterans you can lean on to teach you the ins and outs of company culture and learn how things really get done.
