What enrichment activities did you participate in as a student?
I participated in Spanish Club and CAS Club.
What as your first job after graduating from Penn State?
After graduating from Penn State, I went onto law school to pursue my JD. My first full-time job was as an associate attorney at Shelly Law Offices, a plaintiff's personal injury firm in Doylestown, PA.
What was your favorite class?
Communication and Aging—I really enjoyed this class and the professor. We engaged in interesting projects, and it led me to in-depth conversations with my grandparents about their upbringings.
How did your liberal arts education and skills prepare you for life after graduation?
My liberal arts education provided me with a well-rounded skill set that could apply to several different fields. Specifically, it contributed to my success in law school by equipping me with the tools to further build my communication and writing skills.
What networking advice would you share with current students?
While I am not much of a networker in the traditional sense, I have found that the most effective way for me to build professional connections is by taking advantage of every work setting that I am in to produce my best work, take genuine interest in what others are saying, and build on common ground.
What role have mentors played in your career progression?
My unofficial mentor has played a huge role in my career progression by including me in a variety of projects that have challenged me, turning disappointments into learning opportunities, and advocating on my behalf. She's been someone I've been able to seek advice from and emulate in my professional growth.
