General Information

The Penn State Outreach and Online Education Emerging Faculty Award for Engaged Scholarship was established in 2015 and is supported by the Office of the Vice President for Outreach and Vice Provost for Online Education in collaboration with the Office of Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs.

It is a University-wide honor that recognizes early-career tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty members whose work has significant potential to advance engaged scholarship through teaching, research, and/or service. Their engaged scholarship work shows significant potential to influence societal issues on local, regional, or national levels. The goal of the award is to help early-career tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty members build a lifetime of leadership in engaged scholarship work. The Penn State Outreach and Online Education Emerging Faculty Award for Engaged Scholarship features an award of $1,000

Eligibility

All Penn State tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty members are eligible for this award. The award is designed to recognize emerging engaged scholarship work, rather than long-established projects. The award recipient’s work must have an established interest in the area or community that the award recipient seeks to benefit through the engaged scholarship effort. At a minimum, the award recipient will have laid the foundation for his/her work and established relationships with partnering organizations.
