Sharon Dux Hyde, JD ’82 and Jeffrey L. Hyde ’77 Pre-Law, ’77 Education, JD ’80
Sharon received her degree in elementary education from Marywood University and taught remedial reading before attending the Dickinson School of Law. She served as a judicial law clerk for President Judge Edmund B. Spaeth of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania and as an associate with Hartman, Underhill & Brubaker in Lancaster.
Jeff, a recognized expert on state tax and tax policy, is senior state tax counsel for IBM and a commissioner on the Connecticut Commission on Economic Competitiveness. He currently chairs the boards of the Council on State Taxation and the State Tax Research Institute and sits on the tax policy committees of several state chambers of commerce. Jeff is also retired senior tax counsel for General Electric Company and was previously a partner with Arthur Anderson, LLP.
Sharon and Jeff are dedicated volunteers for, and generous donors to, the College. Jeff serves on the College’s Development Council and the McCourtney Institute for Democracy’s Board of Visitors; he is also an original member of the Political Science Board of Visitors. He was named a Penn State Alumni Fellow in 2011.
The Hydes support the Hyde/Board of Visitors Early Career Professorship in Political Science and created the Susan Welch Director’s Fund in the Democracy Institute. They have established three Trustee Scholarships in Liberal Arts as well as scholarships supporting football, wrestling, and general athletics. They are also members of the Mount Nittany Society.
