Holiday Raffle Details

  • Discussed final details about Holiday Raffle party being held Monday December 5th.
  • Tickets and money will be picked up from the ticket sellers Thursday December 1, by Trisha or Maryam.
  • Tickets will be sold the day of up until the time of the drawing.
  • Any prized that have not yet been given to Trisha or Maryam, please do so by this Friday December 2nd.

Discussed possible upcoming fundraisers:

  • Another paint night
  • Buffalo Wild Wings (restaurant fund raiser, when they open)

    • Sierra Page: Lion’s Pride , Primanti Brothers, Family Clothesline, Mclanahans, Olde New York, Fiddlehead, Aurum Jewelers, Miska/Reini Jewelers- follow up
  • Committees went over all current donations and are working to combine some into prize packages.
  • Talked about doing a Blown Glass session with Susan Decker, as a possible fundraising event next year
  • NEXT MEETING: Monday October 24th, at 11am in 503 Keller. During this meeting we would like to have all donations finalized so we are able to get the combine the prizes into packages and get the tickets printed.

Office Olympics

  • A reminder for the Office Olympics registration will be sent. The dates/times are as follows:
    • Tuesday, August 2 ~ Moore Building Lawn
    • Ice Cream Is Served ~ 2:30–4:30 p.m.
    • Office Olympics Ceremonies and Games ~ 3:00–4:30 p.m.
    • (Rain date: Thursday, August 4)
  • Games were discussed. The following games are in the lineup for this year:
  • Obstacle Course
  • Water Relay
  • Brain Teaser
  • Shotput/Recycling
  • Rubber Band
  • Sherri will secure the microphone
  • Trisha will ask Barb Edwards where the Office Olympics written information is.

CURRENT Fundraising Endeavors

  • We are brainstorming for more fundraising ideas. Several committee members are in the process of checking on ideas. Anyone with ideas, please let us know!!

Next Meeting

  • The next meeting will be held the 2nd Tuesday of the month (due to the July 4th holiday).
  • The date is: Tuesday, July 12 at 9:00 a.m. in 502 Keller Building (please note room change)

  • In our “Restaurant per Month” fundraising effort, Moe’s on March 30, netted us $50.00.
  • Our “Paint Night” held April 22 was a huge success. We earned a whopping $592.00!! Another paint night is being considered for October/November.

  • Office Olympics: The Office Olympics registration announcement will be sent. The dates/times are as follows:

Next up in our restaurant theme is “The Greek Restaurant” on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. A flyer, created by Maryam Sinawa will be circulated. You must have the flyer or mention the College of the Liberal Arts United Way at the time of payment. 20% of the price will come back to the LA United Way.

  • CONFIRMED Fundraising Endeavor

-Zumba with Stephanie (our own Stephanie Whitesell): May 18 from 5:15-6:10 in 137 Moore Building. $5.00/class; limited to 35 attendees per class.

  • Office Olympics

-The Office Olympics are on the horizon – this topic will be discussed in more detail in the next couple of meetings (as we near the date of the event).

  • CURRENT Fundraising Endeavors

The “restaurant per month” idea was modified to every other month (to avoid burn out of constantly receiving e-mails about LA United Way events). Restaurants in the near future:

-The Greek Restaurant (May 31, 2016 from 5:00-9:00 p.m.). 20% with flyer – eat in or take out!!

-Five Guys (July) – details to follow (Trisha Everhart)

  • CONFIRMED Fundraising Endeavor

-Paint Night!! The committee will sponsor a paint night at Letterman’s (formerly Damon’s) – Friday, April 22 – doors open at 5:30; painting begins at 6:00. $25/person. RSVP and Payment due by April 18, 2016. Jessica’s friend (Ashley Corvin-BEA Art Teacher and personal friend will be our “resident artist”). Jessica and Maryam will purchase the supplies and will be reimbursed for those supplies – the remaining amount will be for the LA United Way!!

  • ON THE HORIZON Fundraising Endeavor

-Zumba with Stephanie (our own Stephanie Whitesell): Looking at May 12 during the noon hour (12:10-12:50) in 137 Moore; May 18 from 5:15-6:10 in 137 Moore Building.

-$5.00/minute class; limited to 35 attendees per class.

Upcoming Fundraisers

Harrisons
Fundraiser will be held from March 14th – March 27th - 20% of food, alcohol, dine-in, and same day take out will go toward the LA United Way.

Moe’s Southwest Grill

Fundraiser will be held on Wednesday, March 30th from 11:00am – 9:00pm - 15% of bill will go toward the LA United Way.

Announcements of these fundraisers will be sent out together. First notice sent to everyone, reminders sent by AAs. Trisha will facilitate.

  • First notification sent ASAP (Faye, waiting for Kristin to confirm with Harrison’s)
  • Reminder sent on the 14th (sent out by representative of each department, Administrative Coordinator or otherwise)
  • Final notification/reminder sent during the week of March 21st
  • Encourage staff and students to blast on social media

 

Possible Fundraisers

Sip and Paint

The idea of a sip and paint fundraiser was raised.

  • Jessica Fatica has an art teacher friend who is willing to instruct the event (free of charge)
  • Faye is going to check with Sandy Balboni, owner of Lettermans, to see if she might donate a space for the event
  • Maryam is going to talk to the art teacher about supplies and details.
  • Considering the month of April.
  • Trisha will price out canvases, paint, and brushes at Michaels or online.


Zumba

Stephanie Whitesell has agreed to teach a Zumba class (or two) for free.

  • Maryam will check with Stephanie on dates
  • We plan to use 127 Moore and will need to check with Stephanie to see if there is a max number of people that room can hold for this type of event.
  • Will ask participants for a “donation” (suggested amount is $5/person)
  • Considering the month of May

 

Office Olympics

Dean Welch’s calendar has been secured for the Office Olympics for Tuesday, August 2nd with a rain date of Thursday, August 4th.

  • A registration announcement will be sent out in April
  • All references to Barbara Edwards as the Office Olympics contact on the website will be changed to Trisha Everhart

  • Fundraising-Hoss’s day for LA United Way (Sunday, January 31) raised $122.01! Thank you to everyone who came out to eat!

Office Olympics

  • Trisha Everhart continues to work on a timeline so the committee knows when certain events/timings occur.
  • Faye Maring will confirm “holds” on Dean Welch’s calendar (per last year’s timeline).

Current Fundraising Endeavors

The “restaurant per month” idea was modified to every other month (to avoid burn out of constantly receiving e-mails about LA United Way events). Restaurants in the near future:

  • Moe’s (March 30) – Flyer required [provided by Moe’s] – 15% of all sales for the day.
  • The Greek Restaurant (May) – details to follow (Maryam Sinawa)

Potential Future Fundraising Endeavors

  • Working a BJC event (Trisha Everhart will inquire)
  • Working at Pizza Hut on Atherton Street (Becky Bressler will inquire)

Announcements

  • The Holiday Raffle was a success – we raised $2,036.
  • Sad to report, Barb Edwards is stepping away from the committee. Barb did a lot for the committee and her absence will be greatly missed. With her departure, we are looking to fill the positions she held – secretary and webmaster.

New Business

  • Kristin Bushong expressed interest in helping with the webmaster work (THANK YOU, Kristin)!!
  • Trisha Everhart and Becky Bressler will flip/flop secretary duties. Becky will be the main minute taker with Trisha subbing when she is absent.
  • Membership Drive: Trisha will draft an e-mail to be sent to college staff. We are hoping to add to our committee membership. Becky and Faye will contribute to the draft (if needed) and Faye will e-mail it to the staff since she has access to the full listserv.

    Office Olympics:
  • Trisha Everhart will work on a timeline so the committee knows when certain events/timings occur.
  • Discussion to move the date of the Office Olympics earlier in the summer to avoid August crunch .. decision to have Office Olympics remain in early August decided. There are several time factors for keeping date as is.
  • Faye Maring will look at Dean Welch’s calendar and put holds on possible dates (per last year’s timeline).

    Fundraising:
    With Valentine’s Day being over a weekend, the flower sale will not work again this year. The committee brainstormed and came up with a “restaurant per month” idea to benefit the committee. Sherri Bumbarger, Faye Maring, and Trisha Everhart are checking on specifics.

Office Olympics

  • Trisha Everhart continues to work on a timeline so the committee knows when certain events/timings occur.
  • Faye Maring will confirm “holds” on Dean Welch’s calendar (per last year’s timeline).

Current Fundraising Endeavors

The “restaurant per month” idea was modified to every other month (to avoid burn out of constantly receiving e-mails about LA United Way events). Restaurants in the near future:

  • Moe’s (March 30) – Flyer required [provided by Moe’s] – 15% of all sales for the day.
  • The Greek Restaurant (May) – details to follow (Maryam Sinawa)
  • Five Guys (July) – details to follow (Trisha Everhart?)
  • Items are being linked at new Restaurant Fundraisers page.


Potential Future Fundraising Endeavors

  • Working a BJC event (Trisha Everhart will inquire)
  • Working at Pizza Hut on Atherton Street (Becky Bressler will inquire)

Announcements

  • The Holiday Raffle was a success – we raised $2,036.
  • Sad to report, Barb Edwards is stepping away from the committee. Barb did a lot for the committee and her absence will be greatly missed. With her departure, we are looking to fill the positions she held – secretary and webmaster.

New Business

  • Kristin Bushong expressed interest in helping with the webmaster work (THANK YOU, Kristin)!!
  • Trisha Everhart and Becky Bressler will flip/flop secretary duties. Becky will be the main minute taker with Trisha subbing when she is absent.
  • Membership Drive: Trisha will draft an e-mail to be sent to college staff. We are hoping to add to our committee membership. Becky and Faye will contribute to the draft (if needed) and Faye will e-mail it to the staff since she has access to the full listserv.

    Office Olympics:
  • Trisha Everhart will work on a timeline so the committee knows when certain events/timings occur.
  • Discussion to move the date of the Office Olympics earlier in the summer to avoid August crunch .. decision to have Office Olympics remain in early August decided. There are several time factors for keeping date as is.
  • Faye Maring will look at Dean Welch’s calendar and put holds on possible dates (per last year’s timeline).

    Fundraising:
    With Valentine’s Day being over a weekend, the flower sale will not work again this year. The committee brainstormed and came up with a “restaurant per month” idea to benefit the committee. Sherri Bumbarger, Faye Maring, and Trisha Everhart are checking on specifics.
